Ultima Requiem was founded by Loïc Malassagne (Countertenor Voice & Baritone Choirs, Guitar, Bass and Keyboards) near Pau and Paris in France.

He started making music with his band Invading Chapel in 1996. His need to experiment with a mixture of several styles with classical elements and lyrical voices comes from his passion for an artist like Klaus Nomi but his influences also come from Heavy Rock scene as Black Sabbath and the Baroque period with Henry Purcell or George Frideric Handel. After a first album simply titled as "Ultima Requiem", in 2002 he released a concept album based on Farinelli's existence as a magnificient singer, man and "castrato". This album gets chronicled in various magazines (Elegy, Hard'n'Heavy...) and "Triomphe Céleste" appears on "Les Disques De La Crypte"'s compilation. In 2019, the songs "For This World" and the cover of "Cold Song" were chosen by Dutch director Edwin Brienen to appear in the Blu-ray reissue of the film "Last Performance". In 2024, Ultima Requiem returns with a new single and video "Baroque Apparition".
